Pensacola, Fla.–September 25, 2009–Innisfree Hotels, Inc. has announced they will add another 25,000 room nights to an Alabama incentive package that will be used to attract Southwest Airlines to Pensacola. The package, valued at $3.1 million, includes rooms at the Hilton Garden Inn and Holiday Inn Express in Orange Beach, AL, as well as a third hotel planned for Orange Beach that will open in the Spring of 2011. The free nights, which will only be available if Southwest chooses to add service to the Pensacola Gulf Coast Regional Airport, will be used by the airline in creating travel packages to attract visitors to the Gulf Coast and will be available over a 3-year period. Harlan Butler, President of Innisfree Hotels, met with the President/CEO of the Alabama Gulf Coast Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB), Herb Malone, on Thursday, Sept. 24 to present this additional package.
“The Alabama CVB is working hard to attract Southwest to Pensacola, and we wanted to lead that,” said Julian MacQueen, Founder and CEO of Innisfree. “I encourage all hoteliers and condo rental companies in the Pensacola region and Alabama Gulf Coast to contribute to this vital economic cause. We have led the Northwest Florida effort in room contribution, and we wanted to lead the Alabama Gulf Coast as well.”
These 25,000 nights in Orange Beach are in addition to the 45,000 free room nights included in a package that Innisfree previously pledged to Southwest. Valued at $5.6 million, these room nights are available at the Hilton Pensacola Beach Gulf Front, the Hampton Inn on Pensacola Beach and the under construction Holiday Inn on Pensacola Beach, as well as the Hyatt Place Hotel directly on the Pensacola Airport property scheduled to open in 2011. The original 45,000 room nights will be valid regardless of whether the airline goes to Pensacola, Ft. Walton Beach or Panama City.
